Step by step to SQL expert:


During the course we will use the previously created tables describing employees in a firm, their wages and jobs. The company is divided into departments. Each employee belongs to a certain grade, depending on the amount of salary received.

DEPT table - a table containing all departments

  • DEPTNO - Department number - unique number of the department
  • DNAM - The name of the department - record stored in large letters
  • LOC - Location of the department (a city in which the department)


EMP Table - a list of all employees

  • EMPNO - Employee number - a unique employee number
  • ENAME - Employee Name - stored in the record in capital letters
  • JOB - job
  • MGR - ID of the head (the empno in the line of the head)
  • HireDate - Date of Employment
  • SAL - salary
  • COMM - The commission charged from the beginning of the year, applies to workers employed as a Salesman
  • DEPTNO - Number of department in which the employee is employed. The value in this field must correspond to one and only one row of the table DEPT


Table SALGRADE - Table salary grades

  • GRADE - number of grade
  • LOSAL - LOW salary - the minimum wage to the rate of grade 
  • HISAL - HIGH Salary - upper limit of the grade
